I was lucky enough to collaborate with Ann Taylor again to choose my favorite petite items from their fall collection. There were so many amazing things it was almost impossible to pick! I like to snag a few new staples at the beginning of each season that I can layer, mix and match and wear non-stop. Each classic piece in this outfit serves that exact purpose.
I grabbed these faux-leather leggings because they looked so luxe on the rack. The slim fit and tapered ankle complemented my petite frame and gave me the freedom to play with proportion and wear something looser on top. To pull off a “shootie”—a shoe + bootie—there should always be a small sliver of skin between where your pant ends and your shoe begins. These petite leggings were the perfect length to pull that off.
This white shirt was a no-brainer. I’d been searching for a classic button-down and loved the collar. I also picked this blouse because it’s longer than most, so it makes me appear taller instead of cutting me off. I knew I wanted to wear something billowy on top, so the slim leggings were essential to balance my look. If you’re petite, always offset something loose with something fitted to avoid overwhelming your frame.
Few things are more classic than a black chain-strap bag. I chose this tote because the size was ideal. It’s large enough but doesn’t take over my entire outfit.
These earrings fit the modern, minimalistic look I was aiming for. The pearl in the middle is adorable, but the triangle shape adds just the right amount of edge.
