The book above is amazing. I came across it at Anthropologie years ago, and it’s my bible when I’m taking a quick weekend trip. It’s a concise guide of the best spots—must-visit sites, beloved restaurants, etc.— in 150 North American cities. Essentially, a map of everything you should do if you’re spending just 36 hours somewhere. Since there’s no better time for short getaways than summer, I wanted to spotlight it. Before I bought the book, I checked what it recommended for my hometown of Princeton. My favorite breakfast spot, PJ’s Pancake House, made the cut among countless local favorites, so I knew the writers did their research. One Teaspoon is always on top of their denim game, and I couldn’t resist featuring the shorts above. I love me a high-waisted hot pant, but the relaxed fit of this pair seemed just as sexy. I imagined sitting in a car road tripping and thought these shorts looked badass, but extremely comfortable for that sort of thing.
I have an appreciation for Timex watches (my grandfather wore them his entire life). Not only are they classic, like the one bottom right, but they’re reasonably priced. I’m all for an expensive watch, but sometimes you want a certain look and options instead of spending so much on one style.
I’m also obsessed with the half-purse-half-belt fanny pack top right. It’s kind of amazing (and only $20). My friends who studied abroad in Florence with me during college will laugh at this one. I proudly rocked a fanny pack like an ’80s mom most of the time I was there and loved every. single. minute. of. it.
Have a kickass Friday guys. And plan a weekend away! It’s surprising how much making the effort to travel and explore a new place—even if it’s just a day trip or somewhere close-by for one night—can revitalize you. You deserve it.
