Maybe it’s all the punk-spiration on the runways that Style.com appropriately dubbed Anarchic, but a not-so-small part of me wants to rock plaid, doc martens, dark lipstick and maybe an ear cuff or three the entire fall season.
If you’re not running out to get a nose ring à la Daria Werbowy or Karla Deras, pay homage to the punk trend by rocking aubergine lipstick and nail polish. My choices? Dark Dahlia by CND Vinylux for your nails—a hybrid lacquer that goes on (and gets removed!) like normal polish, but has the longevity of a full-blown gel manicure. It lasts for seven full days (usually 10 for me). No more going back to the salon and spending way too long getting your latest gel manicure removed.
For your lips, NARS’ Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Train Bleu is the perfect punky mix of deep red and purple. It took me a few weeks to muster the courage to wear such a strong color, but I’m kind of in love with it. It reminds me of my 5th grade teacher who wore dark purple lipstick every day. I remember always thinking she looked amazing with it.
