Knit & Knot

In my mind, oversized knitwear calls for a top knot. Nine times out of ten, my mane is in a messy bun by 5PM anyway (if not long before). Aside from being the perfect excuse not to style my hair, this olive green knit sweater is a favorite recent closet addition (it’s also comfortable and affordable). I was drawn to the different patterns on the front and back, and it made me want to curl up with a cup of coffee when I tried it on. That’s the scale I use to measure sweaters.

H&M olive green knit sweater (available in black or cream here), Club Monaco leggings, my favorite Doc Martens (highlighted as a fall essential in this Sunday Shopping post), studded Michael Kors tote (a great blogger bag because it fits my laptop), Oliver Peoples sunglasses, Charming Charlie pavé spike necklace (not available online yet—check out more necklaces here), Michael Kors watch, Catbird hammered first-knuckle ring and alphabet ring, K/LLER Collection V rings and pavé pinky ring (my own design).

Might I also add that I spoke too soon here. It’s officially freezing.

Sunday Shopping: Ear Cuffs

Last week at LuckyFABB, I attended a seminar with Amber Venz, president and co-founer of rewardStyle. Her advice for fashion and beauty bloggers was invaluable, but it was impossible to avoid staring at a spiked ear cuff she was rocking on stage.

When the floor opened up to audience questions, the first one asked was where her ear cuff was from. Amber answered it was this one from BCBG (on sale through tomorrow!), and I ordered it in gold on my iPhone right then and there.

Amber’s cool, edgy look inspired this week’s Sunday Shopping post. Ear cuffs are a simple (and super affordable) way to upgrade your style. Ryan Storer is an inspiration in this domain, but his designs are always sold out, so here are other eye-catching options.

Fall Flannel

I’m a plaid flannel hoarder, and I love when fall rolls back around so I can wear them all the time. When I’m working at my computer, I throw an unbuttoned flannel over a T-shirt if I’m cold instead of a sweatshirt. Before I walk to the gym in my apartment complex, I tie a flannel around my waist in case it’s chilly. There’s something about squeezing every ounce possible out of this comfy fabric during the fall season that makes me so happy. You can only imagine my excitement when grunge became a thing again. I was under the age of 10 all throughout the ’90s—I missed out people.

With that said, I liked the idea of a masculine flannel buttoned up and paired with a feminine statement necklace. Creating contrast between something girly and something tough is kind of what my style is all about.

A big shout out to my mama for shooting her first outfit post (and just being generally amazing)!
