Foundation Fix

On a recent trip to Toronto, I went a little wild at Holt Renfrew (also known as heaven on earth). While moseying around the makeup department, I purchased Laura Mercier’s Smooth Finish Foundation Powder. It’s official ladies: I’m obsessed.

Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Foundation Powder

Foundation has always been my adversary. I hate anything that feels heavy on my skin and can’t stand caked-on makeup. This pressed powder (a miracle in a miniature compact) accomplishes the impossible: it looks and feels lightweight while providing flawless coverage. You also have the option to wear it wet or dry, and it comes with the applicators for both.

If you want an I-just-slept-for-10-hours glow (when you worked until midnight, passed out in your Madewell moto boots, and woke up looking like complete crap), this is your answer. It’s sure to be a mainstay in my makeup arsenal.

At a recent photo shoot, I shamelessly asked the manicurist on set to remove my chipping polish. Yes, this diva demand was out of character for me, but I couldn’t stare at falling flakes of OPI’s Suzi Skis in the Pyrenees for another second.

To prevent my newly bare nails from breaking, he quickly swiped on a dark red polish by RGB. Eight days later, my makeshift manicure is still intact. Really.

In the 20-year history of my overt nail obsession, I’ve never been more enamored with a polish brand. The consistency of RGB’s product is so smooth, and it dries to a hard finish that sticks to your nail like a sheet of armor. My manicures tend to last three days tops, so I consider this a beauty breakthrough.
